Tower is a hard rock band formed by Robson and Pernu.

Gabriel joined after and exhausting 52 singers tried out for the band. Tanaka joined from a long history and friendships with the band and added new depth in songwriting. We are an original band formed from a cover band. The covers we play are considered difficult to copy and those styles were added to the mix of original tunes.

We wanted to play what we thought was lacking from other bands. Listen to the music.

BAND ROSTER

JERRY GABRIEL – LEAD VOCALS

Gabriel is without doubt a world-class rock/blues vocalist. Singing all his life and performing since the age of 14, he possesses a seemingly endless range, flawless pitch, controlled edginess and the ability to express a wide range of emotion. “There’s almost nothing I live for more than singing. I was born for this”, says Gabriel. He has studied voice with Leanne Summers, a Seth Riggs associate and has worked with the likes of Ray Davies, Jack Bruce, Leslie West, Alex Ligertwood and more.

MIKE ROBSON – GUITAR

Instead of hitting the party scene, Robson followed his passion, playing the guitar. “Playing into the wee hours of the morning, I couldn’t get enough”, claims Robson. Influenced by Rock & Roll legends like Led Zeppelin, Van Halen and KISS, Robson studied music at Guitar Institute and Technology, and utilized his natural talent, learned skills and passion to write and perform many of Tower’s innovative, original material.

CHRIS TANAKA – GUITAR

Initially obsessed with the guitar, Tanaka has now become more obsessed with songwriting and production. Says Tanaka, “I’ve also realized the need to learn keyboards and computer music programs and essential tools for adding different textures”.

MICHAEL PERNU – BASS

Pernu provides the heavy funky/quirky element, a powerful visual cue that there’s more about the band than the norm for this genre. “My inspirations are the feeling that I have learned or accomplished something, or made something better”, stated Pernu.

BOB NELLIS – DRUMS

Nellis, a seasoned drummer and part-time actor adds a powerful beat enhancing the innovative sound of Tower. Drumming on everything as a kid, Nellls claims to “Play with a BIG stick – drums sticks, that is!”

LANCE CRANE – DRUMS

My major influences are Neil Peart, Dennis Chambers, Dave Weckl, and of course John Bonham. You’ll find Lance doing drum off competitions against the industry’s best.

NANCY HUGHES – BACKUP VOCALS

Singing since the age of 5, Hughes’ first professional singing engagement was at age 13. Performing at numerous venues, she has worked as a soloist and as part of a group. “One of my greatest honors was singing the National Anthem at the Jack Murphy Stadium for the San Diego Padres”, Hughes proudly said. She possesses a magnificently colored and refined voice that is able to convey great power, drama, and depth of feeling.
